NIKSHA OS — Parent & User Terms

Operator: NIKSHA OS ("we", "us").
These are the plain-language terms for individual users of the NIKSHA OS app — parents/guardians, teachers, staff and students. They sit under the Terms & Conditions and the Acceptable Use Policy. Your school is the organisation that runs NIKSHA OS for you.
1. Your account comes from your school
- Your school created your access. You log in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP).
- You can only see what your role allows. A parent sees only their own child(ren); a teacher sees only their classes.
- Keep your login private. Don't share your OTP. If you lose your phone or think someone else has access, tell your school and email support@nikshaos.in so we can secure your account.
2. What you can use the app for
Use NIKSHA OS for genuine school purposes — checking attendance, results, fees, timetable, notices, communicating with the school, and the features your role provides. Please follow the Acceptable Use Policy. Misuse can lead to your access being suspended.
3. Your child's information (for parents)
- The information about your child is held by NIKSHA OS on behalf of your school. Your school decides what is recorded and is the first point of contact for questions, corrections, or removal.
- You can review your child's information in the app and ask the school to correct anything that's wrong.
- We do not use your child's data for advertising, tracking, or profiling. See Children's Data & Consent.
4. Notifications
With your permission, we send push and in-app notifications about school events (results published, fee due, attendance, notices). You can turn these off in your device or app settings at any time. We don't send marketing spam.
5. Payments (if your school enables online fees)
Online fee payment is not active yet. Recording a payment in the app does not currently charge you or move money — your school collects fees as it does today. Do not rely on the app to pay fees until your school tells you it is available.
- When it is enabled, the payment is handled by a secure payment provider (see Sub-processors). NIKSHA OS does not receive or store your card details — you enter them on the provider's own checkout.
- Your school sets the fees, due dates and refund rules. Questions or disputes about a fee, a charge, or a refund go to your school, not to NIKSHA OS.
6. AI features
Some features use AI to summarise information or draft text (for example, parent insights). AI can be wrong. Treat AI output as a helpful summary, not an official record — the school's records and staff are the authority. See the AI Usage & Disclaimer.
7. Content you upload
If you upload photos, documents or messages, make sure you have the right to share them and that they follow the Acceptable Use Policy. We may remove content that breaks the rules.
8. Your privacy & rights
Our Privacy Policy explains what we process and why. You can:
- access and correct your data (usually via your school),
- ask for erasure when data is no longer needed,
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent,
- nominate someone to act for you (as the law allows), and
- raise a grievance.
Because your school is usually the Data Fiduciary, start with your school. You can also contact our Grievance Officer at support@nikshaos.in, and, if unresolved, the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, in two ways:
- In the app: Profile → Delete account. You confirm with a one-time password sent to your registered mobile number, and by typing
DELETE. It takes effect immediately and signs you out everywhere. - On the web, without the app: <https://nikshaos.in/delete-account>. Use this if you can no longer sign in.
What is erased: your ability to sign in; your name, mobile number and email on your account; your device notification registrations; your AI assistant conversations; your saved preferences; and, if you are a staff member who used face check-in, your face-verification template.
What your school keeps: student academic records, attendance, fees and receipts, health/infirmary records, staff employment records, and audit records. Those belong to your school and are often legally required to be kept. Deleting your account does not delete your child's school record, and it does not remove your child from the school.
If you need access again: your school can restore it from its own records without re-creating anything — your children stay linked to you. Restoration does not bring back the personal information that was erased. If your old mobile number now belongs to someone else's account, your school will not be able to restore access to that number.
10. Accepting these terms
On first login — and whenever we make a material update — you may be asked to review and accept these terms and the Privacy Policy before you continue. We record that you accepted (which version, when, and from which device) to keep a clear record. You can view the current policies any time from the app's Profile / Legal section.
11. The basics (please read)
- The app is provided "as is"; we work to keep it reliable but can't promise it's perfect or always available.
- To the extent the law allows, NIKSHA OS isn't liable for indirect losses, and our responsibility is limited as set out in the Terms & Conditions §16. Nothing here removes rights you have under law that can't be removed.
- These terms are governed by Indian law.
