Delete your NIKSHA OS account
This page explains how to delete your NIKSHA OS account and what happens to your data. You do not need to install the app or sign in to make a request.
Two ways to request deletion
1. In the app
If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route:
- Open NIKSHA OS and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Delete account.
- Read the summary of what will be removed.
- Confirm your identity with a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number.
- Type DELETE to confirm. The request is actioned immediately and you are signed out of every device.
2. By email
If you cannot sign in — for example your access was already removed, or you no longer have the phone number on the account — email support@nikshaos.in with the subject “Account deletion request”.
Tell us the mobile number registered on the account and the name of your school. We will verify that the request genuinely comes from the account holder before we act on it — this protects you from someone else deleting your account. We aim to acknowledge within 7 days and complete verified requests within 30 days.
What is deleted, and what is not
NIKSHA OS is used by schools. Some of the information in it belongs to you, and some belongs to your school as its official record. We delete the first. We cannot unilaterally delete the second, because the school is legally responsible for keeping it.
Deleted when your account is deleted
- Your ability to sign in — all sessions and sign-in tokens are destroyed immediately.
- Your account's personal contact details: your name, mobile number and email address are erased from your user account.
- Your device push-notification registrations.
- Your face-verification enrolment, if you are a staff member who used face check-in. The stored mathematical face template is permanently erased.
- Your AI assistant conversation history.
- Your saved app preferences.
Retained by your school
These records belong to the school, not to the app, and are often required by law or by education regulations to be kept:
- Student academic records — marks, results and progression.
- Attendance registers.
- Fee, invoice and receipt records (financial records carry statutory retention periods).
- Health and infirmary records, where the school operates that module.
- Staff employment and payroll records, if you are or were an employee — these are the school's HR records and are commonly required to be kept for tax and employment law.
- Audit and safeguarding records the school must be able to produce.
Where these records mention you, they are held by your school as the data controller. To ask for those to be corrected or removed, contact your school directly — they decide, and we act on their instruction. If you tell us and we cannot act ourselves, we will say so and point you to the school.
If the account belongs to a student
Student accounts are created by the school, not by the student. A parent, guardian or the school can request deletion of a student's login. The student's school record remains the school's own record, as above.
After deletion
Deletion cannot be undone, and it does not bring back the personal information we erased.
If you later need access again — you still work at the school, or you are still a parent there — your school can restore it without re-creating anything. Your children stay linked to you and a student's academic history is untouched, because those are the school's records and were never deleted. Your school supplies your name and mobile number from its own records, and you sign in again with a one-time password as usual.
What does not come back: your previous email address, saved preferences, AI assistant history, and face-verification enrolment. Those were deleted and stay deleted. If your old mobile number now belongs to someone else's account, your school will not be able to restore access to it.
